GILGIT: Northern Areas Chief Executive Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan has said government officers belonging to the region are being pushed to the wall and we cannot remain silent over the injustices being made to them for the last many years.Talking to the media, he said time has come we should launch a joint struggle against the injustices with the officers from the Northern Areas. He said there should be some rules and law to govern the transfer and posting of officers from other parts of the country in Gilgit-Baltistan.He said officers in grade 18 and 19 are posted in the Norther Areas from outside the region. In return, he proposed, an equal number of officers in the same position from this region should be posted in other parts of the country. He said assistant commissioners belonging to other parts of the country come to Gilgit-Baltistan and seek posting in the stations of their choice till their promotion as DC and home secretary. Later, they never wish to go back from the area. In contrast, our able officers are neither sent to other parts of the country nor given promotion. This creates frustration among the officers and the public. He said the federal government should devise a policy to end this injustice in Gilgit-Baltistan.
