GILGIT: During the last about two years peace had been restored in Gilgit-Baltistan but the recent daylight murderous attacks on people under the very nose of law-enforcement agencies have not only perturbed the masses but have also become a question mark for the government. These views were expressed by speakers at a peaceconference organized by the National Alliance, Senior Citizens Forum and Grand Aman Jirga. The conference was attended among others by the representatives of PML-N, PML-Q, PPP, JUI and Anjuman-i-Tajiran. Grand Aman Jirga chief Malik Mohammad Maskeen also spoke on the occasion. The speakers strongly condemned the recent attacks on people particularly on member Legislative Assembly Himayatullah Kahn and termed it a conspiracy to sabotage the peace and law and order of the region. They said Gigit-Baltistan has always been ruled by those who came to the region though the back doors and had no concerns with the issues of the local people. By sowing the seeds of hatred and sectarianism, these forces have made the people so scared that now they even hesitate to raise voice for their basic rights.
