Boy killed in Chitral valley

CHITRAL: A student was killed in Shich village of Yarkhoon valley on Wednesday morning when a boulder released from a mountain hit his home, while other members of the family miraculously escaped unhurt, police said. Ali Afsar Jan, a student of class 10 at a local high school, died on the spot. However, the neighbours rushed to the scene and rescued other family members.FLOUR SMUGGLING: The Chitral police foiled an attempt of smuggling of 247 bags of wheat flour from the district to Afghanistan via Arandu border at Drosh. The police arrested accused Saeedur Rehman, Ajmaluddin and Ghulam Qadir, and impounded their vehicles during a raid.SCHOOL ISSUE: The residents of some villages have demanded of the government to cancel transfer of a girls’ high school scheme from Singoor to Shoghore and warned that they would block Garam Chashma road if their demand was not met. During a meeting the villagers from Singoor, Balach, Seen Lasht and Shali, with Haji Said Ghaffar in the chair, said that the scheme had been included in the ADP of fiscal year 2007-08 under scheme-79 but the local MPA Salim Khan allegedly got it transferred to his native village Shoghore.
