Hotel raided, rare fish recovered

GILGIT: The fishries department raided a hotel in the city and recovered illegally caught 40kg rare trout fish and registered a case against the owner.
Officials said assistant director fishries Gilgit Mohammad Rafiq, AD Ghizer Maqbool Ahmed, AD Diamer Fida Alam, and assistant warden Mohiuddin raided the Chashma Hotel in Hunzal, in the outskirt of Gilgit, after receiving public complaints. The officials found the 40kg rare fish stored in a deep freezer which the owner Malik Nazeem was selling illegally. The officials said the hotel owner had been time again warned to stop the illegal trade but he did not heed to the warning. They said the hotel owner was openly violating the law and placing advertisements in the press for selling the rare trout fish.
They said catching and sale of rare trout fish was banned under the law and a case would be registered against the accused in the court of law.
The y said to check catching of trout fish the department had only two watchers along the Jaglot-Kargah Nullah and it was impossible to check the activity.
